Mission accomplished !!!

Dear all,
I am extremely delighted to declare that the Mission has been accomplished... in 2hrs 57 mins...
A total of 38,000+ participants across categories made it the biggest marathon in India, with lots of celebrities joining in despite the terror threats.... this is the real spirit of Mumbai... hats off !

The race begin at 6.15am sharp from Bandra in the pitch of darkness as the Sun rose only around 7 am... the first 7 kms on the Bandra Worli Sea-link were the toughest as there were only runners on the bridge... crowds cheered for the runners as soon as we hit the Worli Sea face... besides the volunteers who were offering water, juices etc, there were hundreds of people who served the runners with fruits, biscuits and choclates... I was humbled to see many young kids volunteering so early on a Sunday morning... However the most humbling experience was to listen to various physically challenged participants on the radio... Thanks Radio Mirchi for telling their stories to us... Am really inspired and thankful to God even more now...
Sharing a few pics taken by my wife, who was not sure whether I will complete the race, actually she was worried looking at my past record of injuries :) But she has been a great support in pushing me do things which I have never done before in life (eg. new hair style with spikes)
The pic below is at the start of marathon....
This pic below is taken at the moment I returned home victorious... the medal is the proof :P

My first half-marathon running number and the medal :)
I could do all this because of my young daughter Navya who dazzles us everyday with the un-thinkable... I dedicate this victory (yes, its indeed a victory on my own) to her...
Cheers with Beers :P :P

The race begins at 6.15 am sharp tomorrow from the Bandra side of the iconic Bandra-Worli Sea link and end at another iconic landmark of Mumbai - The Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus...

43 hours to go...

Hi All,

With just 43 hours to go for the race to begin, I have a good news...
Yes, the back-pain is gone completely. Despite me sitting in a car most of yesterday, there is no pain today morning... wont take it easy though... will continue with the exercises in the evening to be 100% sure...

Now, the plan is to do 1 hr of tread-mill tomorrow morning, collect the running number, bib and the kit.... and chillout for the rest of the day... have to get up early on Sunday as the race begins at 6.15am and the venue is atleast 45 mins away from my home...

Am really looking forward to have some great time !!!
Cheers !

Ray of Hope !

Hello all !

After suffering for the last 5 days, finally a ray of hoope for me... the back-pain has reduced significantly today morning... may be due to the exercises prescribed by the doctor, most certainly due to the good wishes of you....
Am still not completely sure about pulling off the 21 kms on Sunday... keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best...

The buzz around the marathon is building up with lots of articles / ads in newspapers, radio etc... I am one among the 10,000 odd who have registered for the half/full marathon... you can check the latest on www.scmm.procamrunning.in ....

Keeping the hope alive...

Welcome 2011 !

Hi All,

First of all, best wishes to you and your loved ones for a great New year 2011.
I am back... again... this time after almost 2 months...

But the good news is that I managed to go for 11kms non-stop in 85 mins today morning (sacrificed yesterday night's party to do it)... out of which around 8kms was running at 9kmph and remaining was walking at 6kmph.... not bad I guess, specially after a break of almost a month... the last best was 7.3 kms is 60 mins...

Only 2 weeks remain for the D-day... local newspapers have started covering interviews of celebrities' who are participating in the SCMM 2011...

Wish me strength and stamina to go for atleast 21km in 3 hrs or so....
Will keep posting more often now...

Cheers !
